About vocalrange.org
vocalrange.org is an independent, free reference tool for measuring sustained vocal range and understanding broad voice-type conventions. It has no account wall and does not sell a professional classification.
Evidence standard
The detector and range state machines are covered by synthetic-signal and deterministic unit tests. Typical ranges are linked to public references, estimates are labeled, disputed singer-range claims are marked, and modeled statistics are not presented as observed people.
Editorial status
The current material has not yet been reviewed by a named vocal coach or speech-language pathologist. No reviewer byline or reviewedBy schema is claimed. Independent expert review is a release requirement before the site makes stronger pedagogical or vocal-health claims.
Independence
The site is operated as a standalone reference. It does not cross-link to related tools, load shared analytics identifiers, or use third-party advertising scripts.
Privacy Policy
Effective July 20, 2026
The live test is designed to process microphone samples on your device. Audio is not recorded, uploaded, or retained by vocalrange.org.
Microphone
Your browser asks for permission only after you read a microphone notice and choose to continue. The audio stream feeds a local pitch detector and stops when you finish, retry, close the page, or use the stop control.
Local history and settings
Your theme and completed range history may be stored in your browser's localStorage. This information stays on that device unless you use the share action. You can remove it by clearing this site's browser data.
Statistics collection
Submission of test results is currently disabled. The statistics page displays a clearly labeled mathematical model with a verified first-party sample size of zero. If collection is introduced later, this policy will first describe consent, fields, retention, abuse controls, and opt-out behavior.
Hosting
Cloudflare serves the site and necessarily processes connection data to deliver and protect it. The site operator does not use that connection data as a vocal-range dataset and does not store microphone audio.
Health information
Do not enter medical details. The test is not a health assessment or diagnosis.
Terms of Use
Effective July 20, 2026
By using vocalrange.org, you agree that the service is provided “as is” as a free educational reference.
Estimates, not diagnosis
Pitch readings, range endpoints, percentiles, singer comparisons, and voice-type matches are estimates. Voice classification also depends on tessitura, timbre, passaggio, registration, training, and repertoire. The site does not provide medical, therapeutic, or professional vocal advice.
Use your voice safely
Sing only at a comfortable volume and stop if you feel pain, strain, dizziness, or persistent discomfort. Do not force extreme notes to improve a score. Seek a qualified professional for vocal-health concerns.
Availability and liability
The service may change or be unavailable. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for loss arising from reliance on its estimates or inability to use the service.
Intellectual property
The original site design, explanatory text, and site-specific code belong to the operator. Public source materials remain subject to their respective authors and licenses.
